Southampton Street Pastors
Street Pastors are Christian men and women who engage with people on the streets offering reassurance, safety and support through listening, helping and caring. We work together with other partners in the night-time economy, schools and communities to make our city safer.
Each city project is set up by Ascension Trust, which is the governing body behind Street Pastors, and run locally with support from local churches and community groups, in partnership with the police, local council, schools and other statutory agencies.
Southampton Street Pastors is a charitable company (Comp. No. 7292166 & Charity No. 1137759) that has around 135 Christian volunteers drawn from over 50 churches in and around Southampton. In Southampton we have been operating since 2009.
Fareham and Gosport Food Basics Bank
The Fareham and Gosport Basics Bank is a project run by a Christian Charity called Friends of the Homeless in Fareham and Gosport (Registered number 1194360). The aim is to provide support to anyone in the community who is going through a short-term crisis and who, quite simply, haven’t got enough money to buy food for themselves and their families
That support comes through the generosity of local people who provide food and toiletries, support us financially and through volunteering with us.
In the last twelve months we have dealt with some 2500 referrals representing about 5000 people fed. It really is local people supporting local people in need!
